Valek is a hybrid grape form. This variety was bred by an amateur breeder, a resident of the Kirovograd region, Vishnevetsky N.P. The breeder bred this variety by crossing the following types of grapes: Kesh 1, Zvezdny, Rizamat.

This grape variety belongs to those varieties that ripen very quickly. After 105 days, the grapes can be harvested. The second half of July and the first half of August are the ideal time to harvest these grapes.

This grape variety is characterized by rather large and strong clusters. The weight of one such bunch can range from one to two kilograms. And in some cases, one bunch can weigh two and a half kilograms. Over the years, the brushes become larger and more massive.

Valek is characterized by large berries that can weigh about 14-16 grams. These berries have a soft, oval shape and are approximately 31x26 mm in size. The inside of the berry contains soft, fleshy flesh. It has a pleasant sweet pear scent with a nutmeg undertone.

The berry itself is of a beautiful bright yellow color. The rind is very thick, edible, as tasty as the flesh itself.

This grape variety rarely suffers from various fungal diseases and rotting. Valek is able to survive the winter, even if the temperature reaches -24 C. Usually, this grape gives a very large harvest. When transferring and transporting, there are also no problems with it.

Valek has a rather beautiful, bright, attractive appearance, sweet pleasant taste, which is why growers love him so much.

In order to grow a healthy, strong, dense bush of grapes, you need to plant it correctly. Planting holes must be dug, equipping them with drainage and providing the plant with watering of the roots at a depth.

In general terms, caring for this grape variety is not much different from caring for other varieties of this culture. It consists in the implementation of such procedures:

  • Weeding the soil regularly
  • Loosening the earth
  • Summer watering
  • Breaking off, pinching off shoots
  • Pruning
  • Top dressing of the soil

Watering is recommended no more than three times during the summer, but if the summer is too hot, it is better to do another watering. No pruning is required for a year after planting.

Breaking off is necessary in order to get rid of bad (dry, sick or weak) shoots on the plant, as they interfere with the normal flow of the right amount of water and nutrients to healthy, fruitful shoots.

It is recommended to break off the shoots after the antennae and inflorescences have formed, but before the shoot hardens near the base and becomes almost wooden. You should start breaking off from the base of the bush, gradually moving towards the sleeves. Healthy, strong, fruitful shoots do not need to be touched, they will be useful for further plant renewal.

Further, it becomes necessary to pinch the shoots, break off the stepsons and thin out the leaves. These valek grape care activities promote the flow of water and inorganic nutrients to healthy shoots. Also, these procedures will help to avoid improper growth and development of the plant.

The essence of pinching is to get rid of the top of the green shoot. This procedure is done a couple of days before flowering so that the bush does not grow too tall. This allows water and inorganic substances to flow to the inflorescences. Stepsons also need regular breakouts.

Leaves that lie on the surface of the bunch, blocking it from direct sunlight, must be trimmed. This contributes to the early ripening of the grapes and an increase in their sugar level. This procedure should be done several weeks before the grapes are ripe. It is recommended to cut off five leaves (or even less) about each bunch, so as not to harm the plant.

In the fall, after the leaves fall off, you can prune. If this is neglected, then the bush can grow and the grape berries, which are usually large and sinewy, can grow small and dry the next season.

Then you can start feeding the plant with fertilizers. To do this, it is necessary to fill a trench with a deepening of up to 65 cm with fertilizer, dug near the plant.

Top dressing should get as close to the roots of the grapes as possible. The proportion should be as follows: for 1 m2 of surface covered with vines, 6-8 kg of manure and 80-100 grams of wood ash are needed.

After the frosts have passed, the removed vine must be folded and provided with warmth with the help of spruce branches or secured with roofing material. Such a shelter should be securely installed, and with the arrival of winter, covered with snow. After the snow melts in the spring, you need to open the vine. This is best done before or after sunset, or during cloudy, overcast weather. Although the roll is rarely exposed to fungal diseases, it does not hurt to sprinkle the surface of the vine with special chemical solutions.
